Software Developer

We are looking for smart developers that get things done. We rely on our team members to fill multiple roles, usually becoming our in-house expert in certain fields. Some of these fields include video compression, web programming, code optimization, software integration, gui application development, hardware interfacing, and embedded programming.

We are selective in our hiring and care more about your abilities than the number of years of experience in a certain technology. However, you might want to mention any previous experience in the technologies listed below. We don't expect you to know all of the following, but we will expect you to master some subset of these:

• Mastery of a low level language (C, assembly)
• Experience in computer vision and/or pattern recognition
• Strong background in data structures and algorithms
• Solid object-oriented design skills
• Knowledge of video encoding and decoding
• GUI programming experience (Qt)
• Web programming expertise (Python, PHP, Ajax, Javascript)
• Linux and Windows system programming

UI Software Engineer

Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition has an opening for a software engineer. The candidate's primary responsibility will be to work closely with our software development kit (SDK) developers to design and implement graphical user interface (GUI) applications based on our computer vision technologies. These applications include proof-of-concept demonstrations, web-based applications, and product prototypes. Being a small company, all of our developers fill many roles. The candidate will be given the opportunity to participate in a wide-range of projects. This position provides a unique opportunity to learn about cutting edge face recognition technology while participating in all aspects of the software development cycle.

Required:

• BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
• Strong object-oriented design skills
• Motivated and independent self-starter who works well with small, fast-paced teams

Preferred:

• C++
• Web-related technologies: php, ajax, flash, etc
• Qt or other GUI programming experience
• Experience programming multi-threaded applications
• Experience interfacing to external hardware

Computer Vision Scientist

Pittsburgh Pattern Recognition seeks a researcher to perform focused algorithm development on problems in object and face recognition. This position requires a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts in applied mathematics, probability theory, signal processing, and machine learning. Ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong academic record, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, attention to detail, proven ability to work successfully on group projects, and a strong desire to learn new skills. Applicants should hold an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Salary commensurate with background and experience, plus full health and retirement benefits.
