PittPatt was founded in 2004 as a spin-off from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) after nearly ten years of research in object recognition conducted by Dr. Henry Schneiderman as both a student and faculty member of the CMU Robotics Institute. Dr. Schneiderman is joined by co-founder, fellow CMU Ph.D. graduate, and former University of Florida Professor, Dr. Michael Nechyba. Currently PittPatt has seven full-time employees.

Dr. Henry Schneiderman
Inventor, President, and Chief Executive Officer
PhD and MS Carnegie Mellon University; BS Brown University
PittPatt's technology is the result of a decade of research by Dr.
Schneiderman as a student and later faculty at Carnegie Mellon
University. Dr. Schneiderman is a recognized leader in the pattern
recognition field with over 15 publications and several patents issued
and pending in the area. As a faculty member, he served as a principal
investigator on numerous research contracts totalling more than $4.5

Dr. Michael Nechyba
Vice President of Research & Engineering
PhD Carnegie Mellon University; BS University of Florida
After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, Dr. Nechyba accepted a faculty
position in ECE at the University of Florida (UF), where he was the
associate director of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory. Dr. Nechyba
was a co-founder of UF's Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) center. He and his
students developed vision-based algorithms for autonomous flight and
intelligent MAV missions, including flight in complex urban
environments, ground-object tracking and natural scene image analysis
and segmentation. As a faculty member at UF, he served as PI and on
research contracts totalling more than $10 million.
